Get Inspired: Your Perfect Fall Wedding

Get Inspired - Your Perfect Fall Wedding

Nothing is lovelier than the vivid, earthy color palette of autumn as a backdrop for your wedding. While the hot days of summer fade away and the crisp September air greets us, here at Gemvara we have felt so inspired by the season. With a little help from Pinterest, we have curated a fall wedding board overflowing with great ideas – from the quintessential rustic fall wedding venue to the perfect autumn-inspired wedding bouquet.

Here are some of our favorite ideas to help make your fall wedding even more memorable.

1. Leaves, Vines, and Berries. Liven up the flowers in your centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres by mixing in pretty autumn leaves or deep green vines. Add fondant leaves and berries to your wedding cake, in deep reds, golds, and oranges, for a unique and truly seasonal touch.

2. A Natural Backdrop for your wedding photos. Scout out locations with your photographer beforehand that will serve as incredible spots for your wedding photos. The warm hues, falling leaves, and even rustic touches like an old barn or lake cabin, will make for some incredible photos.

3. Pumpkins with a purpose. An affordable and creative idea, pumpkins are the “it” decoration for your fall wedding. The best idea we have seen so far? Use smaller pumpkins as place card holders for your guests. Not only do they serve a practical purpose during your wedding reception, but also double as great wedding favors and are an unexpected fall delight.

4. Expand your palette beyond orange and yellow. Expand your palette to include darker hues to create a romantic and cozy feel. A deep violet purple, or a smoky brown helps to balance the brighter colors and creates a rich and dynamic feel to your wedding.

Poseidon Band, Belle Earrings, Dauphine Ring

This week’s Trending on Pinterest Collection features warm combinations in vintage-inspired settings.  The larger, statement themes are sure to make the bearer stand out from a crowd and easily become a daily wear.

The Poseidon Band uses romantic swirls and waves to capture the hearts of Pinterest users everywhere.  This reasonable sterling silver band can be worn alone or within a stack set.  The band captures intricate detailing and scrolled patterns without fail.  Poseidon Band is available in sterling silver, 14K & 18K gold (white, yellow, rose), palladium, and platinum.

Get ready to walk the red carpet in Belle Earrings which are a pear-shape drop silhouette sure to make any girl shine and shimmer with every step.  Vintage inspired designs and the warm colors of this set makes these earrings truly beautiful and timeless.

Flanked with fleur-de-lis on either side of the center shield, the Dauphine Ring gives heirs of royalty, especially with yellow gold, tanzanite, and white sapphire.  This ring is sure to demand attention and can easily be worn every day.

Pinterest Ring!

Pinterest Ring

We know the rules – when you like some thing enough, you put a ring on it. And that’s exactly what we did with our social obsession, Pinterest. While Gemventing one fine Friday (GEM-VENT-ING: verb The act of inventing sweet new things for Gemvara.com) we came to the conclusion that Pinterest is our all-time favorite social platform and that we should make a seriously blingin’ ring full of rubies and diamonds in the form of the Pinterest ‘P’ in honor of it.

What do you think? Should we make it available on our site?

Get Dotty

Polka Dot Ring, Polka Dot Skimmers, Pouch, Dress, Scarf, Pants, Manicure

Nothing gets us in the mood for spring quite like fun prints and colors. We’ve explored florals, mint, monochromatic and today it’s all about spots! From Parisian-girl skimmers to dot jewelry, we can’t get enough of this playful pattern.

Not ready to jump right into polka dot pants? Try a simple shirt or even colorful glassware. To get the adorable spotted manicure for yourself (above; originally featured on eat.sleep.wear), try using Sally Hansen’s nail art pens. They’re so easy it’s almost foolproof!

Pin your favorite polka dot pieces to your own pin boards or check out our favorite looks over on Gemvara’s Pinterest page!

Mad about Mint

Image Sources: 1,2,3.

This post is part of a guest blogger series featuring Alana Brooks of The Good Girl Gone Blog.

Mint is everywhere! From the runway to your favorite boutiques to style editorials, it’s hard to find anyone in the fashion world who hasn’t been swept away by this frosty hue. Pair it with pastels and nudes for a demure, feminine look, or slip in some metallic accents to step it up a notch. Feeling extra daring? Mix mint with neon for an exciting take on the trend.

Personally, I’d love to throw on the Dolce & Gabbana skirt above with a little white cardigan, a pair of nude heels and my favorite diamond studs for a Betty Draper meets pretty ballerina look. (Can you tell I’m getting pumped for the Mad Men premier?)

How will YOU incorporate mint into your wardrobe?

Inspired by Daffodils: Eat, Wear, Shine

This post is part of a guest blogger series featuring Alana Brooks of The Good Girl Gone Blog.

Where I come from (Baltimore, to be exact) daffodils are a sign of Spring, no matter what month they choose to bloom. Daffodils are signs of happiness, sunshine and the warm months to come. Though it may still be February, the daffodils have begun to poke through the soil, evoking a need for springtime in all of us. Though Spring does not officially begin for a few more weeks, the touch of warmer temperatures guides us slowly away from a dreary February and into what will hopefully be a brighter March. Until then, here is a little daffodil inspired fun to help you make it through the colder days.

Patterned Pants: Can you Handle Them?

This post is part of a guest blogger series featuring Alana Brooks of The Good Girl Gone Blog.

Patterned pants, especially of the printed denim variety, have seemingly exploded across fashion magazines and blogs alike. With options ranging from bold animal print to girly florals, there’s an option for practically everyone. Patterned Pants are definitely not for the meek, so try them if you dare!

Here are three ways to wear the trend:

Floral MotifFor a softer, girlier look, try floral patterns. Pair with a flowy top and pearl earrings. Sources: 1,2,3.

geometricFor an edgy, modern look, go geometric! Pair bold black + patterned pants with a bright t-shirt and chunky, colorful earrings. Sources: 1,2,3.

animal print

If you’re feeling extra bold, go wild with animal print. For a more toned down look, stick to basic black or white on top, and keep jewelry minimal with a black cocktail ring. Sources: 1,2,3.

Have you attempted this trend yet? If not, what are you waiting for?
