Get The Look: Emma Watson

As if being an actress and model weren’t enough for Emma Watson, she also happens to be an ivy-league student, cutting-edge stylish, and absolutely adorable. Did we mention she’s only 21!

In true Emma fashion, she arrived looking dressed up (not over-the-top) to the premiere of My Week with Marilyn in the UK last week. Her fun black-and-white Jason Wu number was very holiday chic and her Solange Azagury-Partridge earrings, Jimmy Choos, and leopard clutch finished off the look flawlessly. Emma’s pixie haircut was also perfect for showcasing her intricate earrings.

In the movie, Emma plays the wardrobe mistress, Lucy, who is wooed by assistant director Colin Clark (played by Eddie Redmayne). The film chronicles a week in the life of Marilyn as she is introduced to the pleasures of 1950s Britain while filming Sir Lawrence Olivier’s The Prince and the Showgirl. Michelle Williams plays Marilyn and is already rumored to receive a Best Actress nomination for the coming 2012 Oscars.

While Michelle may have stolen the show on-screen, Emma owned the red-carpet. To get her look for less try Gemvara’s Naked Petite Earrings in black onyx. These dainty dangle earrings come in round or cushion and are a charming compliment to any outfit this holiday season. They are great for teens or adults, but also come in a larger size if “shock and awe” is more your style. Snag them this year (as a gift or for yourself) in any gem of your choosing!

Delicious Delights

So we’re not usually ones to engage you in our sweet tooth fantasies (normally we stick to the sparkly ones), but with Thanksgiving right around the corner we thought we would share a few of our favorite holiday indulgences.

Desserts

There’s no use trying to fight it. Desserts are all around us during the holidays and it’s no fun to not participate in their deliciousness. We’ve rounded up three of our favorites for you to try. You can even print them out as recipe cards. Come on, you deserve it!

Drinks

Sometimes you just need a little something to take the edge off. Here are a few of our favorite cocktail recipes. They are simple enough to make for yourself, but also festive for company. The Amethyst Haze is a winner around the office (can you guess why?) and the Apple Pie Spiced Cider can be made without alcohol so it is great for any kids at your holiday table.

Sparkle

It wouldn’t be the holidays without a little luster! This year we plan to indulge in our new Naked Gems collection. With drop earrings ranging from small and sweet to long and luxurious, chunky rings, and pendants galore, Naked Gems are what we will be wearing at our holiday table. The juicy jewels look almost good enough to eat!

What are your favorite holiday vices?

Versace's Jungle Fever

Versace for H&M I

This Saturday, Versace launches their collection with H&M. We predict — scratch that, we know — that utter madness will ensue. The bright, fun colors combined with the wild prints signature of Versace are a hard thing to pass up, especially at affordable H&M prices. Looking at the shots from the recent runway show inspired us to create a collage that included our big juicy Naked Gems as accents. After all, jewelry always completes the outfit.

So, if you don’t make it out there to face the masses tomorrow morning, at least you can look at these fabulous images and imagine yourself in a tropical setting dripping in gems. Have an exciting weekend!

{Guest Post} Are You Warm or Cool?

Yelena, from AllGlamThings, stops by to give our readers some guidance on finding their best colors:

Did you know that the right colors can change you appearance dramatically? You can look younger, fresher, slimmer, and more naturally beautiful. That’s a fact! Look at the beautiful Audrina Patridge in two different color palettes:

I believe that in person everything should be beautiful and harmonized. That’s why it’s important to know your best colors. Do you know if your skin is warm or cool? Well, most people don’t, but it’s actually pretty easy to figure out!

Warm colors are colors of sun and fire: red, yellow, and orange. Cool colors are blue, green, and violet. When you look at the color of your eyes, hair, and skin you can intuitively feel whether you are warm or cool. However, metallics can help you figure out your skin tone temperature easily. Warm skin tones look best in gold jewelry, while cool types shimmer in silver.

Do a little test — buy foil wrapping paper in gold and silver, then hold a piece of each below your face. Which color makes you glow? Which one makes you skin look pale or sick? If you respond to cool, chances are you skin has more blue undertones and burns easily. Your best colors are blue, grey, and soft feminine tones. In jewelry I would suggest these gorgeous Rose de France 14K White Gold Earrings.

If warm colors give you that glow, then rich, earthy colors works great on you.  I like this stunning and delicious Checkerboard Citrine 14K Yellow Gold Ring for warm skin types.

If you are not getting a reading then you are a balanced season (between warm and cool). This skin type is quite flexible. When you’re not sure about what color to choose, pick a hue that brings out your eyes. Or why not mix few hues? Try this piece — Lemon Quartz 14K Yellow Gold Earrings with London Blue Topaz.

If you want to learn more about finding your best colors then make sure to check out my weekly posts on Glamthings.com or order your personal e-color analysis.

Jewel Tones

Jewel Tones

With the holidays quickly approaching, jewel tones have entered into fashion’s palette. These classic colors with names like amethyst, garnet, sapphire, emerald, ruby, and citrine have the power to make you feel rich and sophisticated, as well as warm and cozy.

Here we’ve rounded up a few jewel toned-dresses and paired them with our new Naked Gems collection. As we all know, along with the holidays come lots of parties — dinners, reunions, gingerbread-making contests… you name it. You want to look your best for these events, but want to remain festive without being over-the-top. Jewel tones are an excellent go-to for holiday dressing because the clothes are usually in solid colors and can be dressed up or down with the right accessories.

These dresses above are all in succulent colors and look striking on their own, but even better when paired with juicy gems. Although we have matched most of the frocks with coordinating gemstone colors, we are also fans of contrasting colors. For example, wearing blue and yellow together or red and black make the jewelry and the gown really pop. We also like the idea of layering, like the two petite pave pendants we placed with the citrine colored dress. Wearing one jewel-toned color head to toe is also stunning and provides a big impact.

How would you wear jewel tones? What Naked Gems are your favorite?
