Dare to DIY: Spring Scarves

With all of the strange weather we’ve been having, it’s hard to figure out how to dress appropriately for spring- one day it’s 40º and the next it’s 70º! The solution for the ever-changing weather? A spring scarf! Lightweight enough for warmer days, a spring scarf adds another layer of protection in case it gets windy or the temperature drops.

Here are a few favorites:

1. This braided scarf tutorial lets you incorporate two of your favorite colors into one amazing piece.

2. Based off of a piece from Anthropologie, this ruffled scarf is super cute and very affordable to create.

3. This braided beauty has special lace detailing on the back and adds various textures to your outfit.

4. While this scarf necklace may not keep you warm, it’ll definitely get you noticed.

Dare to DIY: Colorblock Bangles

Embrace the colorblock trend with this simple DIY!

You’ll need:

- Inexpensive, wooden bangles

- Thin yarn or embroidery floss

- Tape

Tip: it’s ok if you have a little extra string dangling, you’ll just wrap the next color around it to keep it secure.

What would you pair with your new DIY piece?

Dare to DIY: Knots

On Monday, I showed you how to work the knot trend into your wardrobe, and today, I’ll show you how to DIY a few of my favorite knotted pieces.

The Top Knot:

- Check out this sock bun photo tutorial from Beautylish- I already shared the video with you, but I find photo tutorials easier to follow.

- If you have long hair, The Beauty Department’s fun bun will look amazing on you!

- Have you tried spin pins yet? I’m obsessed. Here’s a tutorial from TheJrLovely.

Nautical Knot Bracelets:

- Though I can’t find the original DIY from Rent the Runway on Campus, here is Studio Slyter’s take on it.

- Under the Sycamore shows us how to dress up a dollar bin nautical bracelet on the cheap.

- P.S.- I Made This’s friendship bracelet DIY looks almost nautical, but also encompassed one of my other favorite trends: neon.

Knotted Skirt:

- A super easy way to turn a scarf into a fun, twisted skirt from Passions for Fashion.

- La Passion pour la Fashion’s DIY draped skirt is a little more complicated but worth the effort!

- A knotted maxi skirt from Lucy and the Runaways is perfect for the beach.

Try one. I dare you!
