Just because it is dreary outside, doesn’t mean your jewelry needs to be! Try out wearing November’s birthstone to add some warm color to your look.
But citrine is a tricky shade. It can clash with your look or it can bring it to the next level. We’ve created an easy go to list of do’s and don’ts for anyone looking for some help!
1) Go Dark! A sunset like hue always looks great with blue. Feel free to utilize all your shades of blue from jeans to blazers. A deep brown also works perfectly.
2) Contrast with silver – using a silver metal makes citrine pop! For an outfit, grey slacks or a grey parka makes the gemstone shine.
1) Go buggy. Black and citrine is always going to remind people of a pesky little bee. Stay away from resembling an insect!
2) Match. Don’t take your citrine piece and match with citrine clothes. Change it up.
Here are some great ways to customize our jewelry with citrine.
The Castle Keep Earrings in white gold with a oval citrine stone are inspired by the battlements of medieval castles. Put them on and feel like royalty.
Add style and meaning with the Infinity Knot Pendant necklace in rose gold and our November birthstone, citrine.
Citrine becomes spectacular with the Cecilia Ring. A cushion cut gemstone, diamonds around the band, and yellow gold creates a gorgeous piece.

Pink is back! These looks were inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli, a legendary Italian fashion designer, who introduced hot pink into the woman’s wardrobe. For this fall, designers used her taste to create beautiful pieces in all the different shades of pink. At Gemvara we have three stunning pink gemstone options. Pink tourmaline and pink sapphire are bright and rose quartz is a soft pale.
Jill Sander used a delicate light pink in this fall jacket. Inspired by this calming shade, we customized the Monsoon Earrings in Rose Quartz. Both pieces are modern and sleek with a romantic touch.
This stunning black lace dress with an accent of shocking bright pink by ERDEM inspired us to create this Triple Rolling Ring. Using another one of our pink colored gemstones, this ring has two circles of pink sapphire and one of black diamond.
We created the Triple Twist Pendant from Pringle’s interpretation of Schiparelli Pink. We used three different shades of pink: pink tourmaline, pink sapphire, and rose quartz to create stunning ombre effect in the yellow gold. Both pieces are chic, simple, and stylish.
The Infinity Knot Ring in rose gold and pink tourmaline is inspired by Carolina Herrea’s knit fall dress. These two pieces are romantic and classy. Bright colored gemstones and dresses bring this trend to life.
What pink gemstone do you prefer?
Personalize the Hannah Ring and have it match any style. The stunning emerald cut center stone in this ring is a celebrity fave! Not to mention, the stunning princess-cut accent stones. Today we’ve given you three great ways and styles to wear a dress, a jacket, and a scarf.
One of our favorite new trends for fall is baroque. The baroque period started around the 1600s in Italy. It is an artistic style with grandeur and heavy design. These designs have luxe fabrics, complicated embroidery, and allow for ultimate sparkle.
This beautiful ornate Valentino dress inspired us to create the Daisy Chain Ring in emerald and ruby. Both items have intricate flower themed designs that are perfect for the beginning of fall.
On a more simple note, we created the Knotted Bouquet Band from a similarly colored Giles dress. For fall, the grey is perfect to mimic those cold rainy days but still be fashionable.
The Knotted Bouquet Ring in rose gold with blue sapphire, diamonds, and rubies is inspired by Dolce and Gabbana intricate jumpsuit. Bright gemstones, complex metal design bring the baroque style to life.
The beautiful painted design on this stands out. Emulate the Queen with the Primrose Ring with red garnet, black diamond, and white sapphire. With this ring, you are sure to make a statement.
The Summer Palace Ring is inspired by the wrought iron gates of a palace in Europe. This customization with black diamond and blue sapphire in yellow gold came from the stunning dress from Balmain.

Pantone recently announced the new color spectrum for Spring 2013 using the fashion shows as pure inspiration! The top four hues were Monaco Blue, Dusk Blue, Emerald, and Grayed Jade. Don’t let the blue shades get you down, these colors are all calm, aquatic inspired and will pair beautifully with your spring sparkle.
First off, lets talk Monaco Blue. This color compliments any cool skin tone (which we all will be after a long winter!) with a pale tint. It is a versatile tone that matches with just about anything.
See on Diana Von Furstenberg’s runway, the beautiful blue tone with white polka dots. Match this outfit with the Naked Cushion Bezel ring with this month’s birthstone, a clear blue sapphire and yellow gold.
Dusk Blue softens the Monaco Blue and becomes easily wearable. Zac Posen, a genius, made a satin dusk blue evening gown that fits the female shape to perfection. He should have matched it with the Brilliant Alhambra Solitaire with blue topaz – right on trend.
For us, emerald is obviously one of our favorite gemstones. We are so happy it is one of the top colors for spring! Tadashi-Shoji rocks the emerald. A customer favorite, the Claddagh Ring also looks amazing in green.
Last but not least is Grayed Jade! Peter Som creates the perfect dress in grayed jade and we have created the perfect piece! The Adele Ring with green amethyst and diamonds is subtle and gorgeous.
What is your favorite color for Spring?
Among the sea of sunny yellows, fiery reds, and cobalt blues, classic pieces featuring dark blacks and bright whites were worn down the New York Fashion Week runways. Some of the designers that had models strutting their stuff in black and white include Naeem Khan, Jenny Packham, Badgley Mischka, and Carmen Marc Valvo.
Though I’ve always been a fan of bright colors, especially for spring, the classic dark and light contrast caught my eye immediately. Patterns, fit, repetition – each designer added their own twist to create entirely unique pieces.
These spring 2013 essentially speak for themselves, but why not add a little something? Statement pieces are always the perfect addition to any outfit, especially when they’re totally customizable.
Try pairing jewelry like Gemvara’s Naked Cushion Petite Bezel Pendant or the Cosmic Illusion Bracelet with polka dots, stripes, or any other pattern that pops up during NYFW to create your own spin on classic pieces.

Tonight, Gemvara will be featured in New York Fashion Week. This is our first time being featured in NYC and we are very excited!
Here we will give you a sneak peak of the beautiful pieces we customized for the show! If you want to get a live viewing of the show head to our Pinterest where we will be live pinning the models and backstage! We will also be live tweeting the show.
Imagine you are at the Grand Canyon. The sky is bright blue, the trees were in bloom, and the sun is reflecting off the canyon walls.
This was the inspiration for this showcase. We designed pieces using the on trend rose gold, yellow gold with citrine, blue topaz, peridot, and smokey quartz. Including the beautiful Naked Cushion Ring, the Emerald Cut Solitaire Pendant, and the Belle Earrings.
Stay tunned to find out what other pieces we are going to use!
Burgundy is the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. It is a contrast and a compliment to the pretty fall leaves as they start to change colors. According to Nina Garcia’s Pinterest, burgundy is the new black for the fall. Check out that board for even more inspiration!
My two favorite’s from the runway are from Nanette Lepore and Tory Burch. Lepore’s use of lace and different fabrics with burgundy create a dynamic look. A completely different way to look at brandy, Tory’s styled dress with burgundy accents is a classic look. Both use another trends – colored leggings!
There are many different ways to work burgundy into your wardrobe. Feeling timid? Add a burgundy bag! If you are feeling outright stylish, don’t hesitate to wear that burgundy dress and accessories. Here are three Gemvara pieces that will have you rocking the trend:
The Brilliant Emerald-Cut Solitaire Pendant in rose gold is elegant and classic (and trendy!). The emerald-cut is refined and simple with a red garnet. The three accent aquamarine gemstones change it up and add some contrast.
This ring has so much bling! The Racetrack Ring in rose gold has a red garnet center stone and a halo of rubies. It is a dramatic ring that makes a statement on your finger.
Last but absolutely not least, we have one of our new bracelets! This an exceptionally special bracelet, the Jocelyn Star, because it was named by one of our Gemvara customers by the “Name that Piece” contest! Done up in red garnet and yellow gold, it is definitely a winner.
How would you wear this great fall trend?
