Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 14th, and while flowers, cards and chocolates are nice, your mom is special. In fact, she’s the best mom in the world, right? Right! So give her the best of the best. Shower her in diamonds, pay someone to do her dirty work and let these five startups take care of the rest. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mommas out there!
TaskRabbit – Growing up, your mom did it all for you. She cooked, cleaned and ran errands, all with a smile on her face. This Mother’s Day, give your mom a break, and send her a TaskRabbit to take care of the chores – from doing the laundry to weeding the garden. If you post the task before Monday, May 14th, TaskRabbit is offering $10 toward any Task, using the code ILOVEMOM.
Vsnap – Can’t be with Mom this Mother’s Day? Sometimes a Hallmark card just doesn’t cut it. Mommy wants to hear the sound of your voice and see your shining face. Thanks to the Boston-based startup Vsnap, you can send your mom a quick, 60-second video message, telling her how much you love her!
SittingAround – Know a mother with young kids? Point her to SittingAround, so she can take a day to herself without the kiddos running around. Founded by MassChallenge alums, SittingAround is an online babysitting co-op that allows parents to swap their time for free childcare. Additionally, earlier this year, SittingAround launched its Sitter Marketplace, a tool for parents to connect with, vet, book and share paid babysitters.
Gemvara – Mom deserves something special, and you know it. Gemvara allows you to make unique, custom jewelry, all from your desktop. The prices are a bit steep, but get your siblings to pitch in, and Mom will be beaming as bright as the gem in that necklace when she sees it.
Birchbox – If your mom likes to be pampered, Birchbox is the way to go. For just $10 per month, Birchbox delivers a curated box of beauty products straight to your door. The box features a range of samples from well-known brands and up-and-comers, so Mom can test the waters on all the anti-aging cream she wants. Not like she needs it, of course.
