Saturday night marked a Boston fashion milestone: The city’s 16th annual Boston Fashion Week debuted at its first-ever official venue in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel courtyard. Saturday night was also a milestone for Gemvara: Our gems were the first jewels to grace the brand-new runway!
Gemvara collaborated with Mike & Ton, a ‘New Faces’ Designer honored with the premiere show of Spring 2012 Boston Fashion Week. The striking Mike & Ton collection paired perfectly with Gemvara’s new Naked Gems line. First seen on the Emmy red carpet, the bold colorful gems in the new collection were a fabulous complement to Mike & Ton’s classic, yet fresh designs.
The Spring 2012 Mike & Ton collection, a collaboration between Tonya Mezrich and Michael De Paulo, is the perfect mix of chic work-wear and glamorous, colorful gowns. Lacey looks alternated with crisp, clean suiting. Cobalt blue, coral, and bright, geometric prints were the common splashes of color. The color-blocking trend also appeared in a sexy band dress with ivory, sea blue, and paprika.
Gemvara’s brightly colored jewelry popped against the sophisticated greys, whites and blacks, and also complimented the colorful gowns. Our London blue topaz ring was stunning paired with a coral ruched dress, while our sunny citrine earrings glowed against the printed tops. The models looked gorgeous in our three-gem drops earrings, large gemstone rings, and gem pendant necklaces. The jewelry stood out as exquisite, yet truly ready-to-wear.
Gemvara is honored to have worked with the talented Mike & Ton and we wish them the utmost success in the future! Look for the debut of the Naked Gems Collection on gemvara.com in November.
